Hi Bert, I just did the proverbial hour with the insurance company and they have told me that there is zero co-pay for you but the coverage is only for 12 sessions per year and there is no coverage for anything beyond that they called that a hard maximum meaning nonnegotiable. However I suggested that I call and try to get a medical review scheduled at about The 10th session and if it slips through it slips through but they don’t expect that it would. I just thought you guys should know that. OK I have Aiden down for Friday the 25th at 4:30 PM. Can he still come? take care, Caroline

Hi Caroline, THANK YOU so much for your help with this on Aidan’s behalf!! I can’t express to you via text how grateful I am, but know that I would give you a BIG hug. When I told Aidan the other day that we didn’t know if he could go back and see you he was visibly unhappy about that (body language was speaking volumes). We are ON for Friday at 4:30. Hi Bert I just got the first EOB rejection of the claim but called the insurance and they said somebody else is paying for it. all of the amount that I billed so far is being credited toward your deductible! I’m hoping that Aidan is able to see a psychiatrist in the next six weeks or so he said he was going to get the appointment scheduled before he left for Canada. This will give me something to use as a context for the medical necessity

Hi Caroline! great to hear from you!! I can print this out and see what EDIS needs–not a problem. Aidan is doing well. He’s been going to VC and continues doing Muy Thai kickboxing. He’s lost a lot of weight and I think is feeling much better overall. I do miss coming in to talk with you for sure. I’ve been ok, but have been struggling at times—depression and anxiety. Working on sleep issues as well. I should see if I can get an approval for me with EDIS when I call. I hope all is well with you and Ginger! Happy Halloween! 🎃

Good morning Bert, this is Caroline Berlin. It was great to see Aiden yesterday! I think at this point in his life the pattern that is difficult for him appears to show up episodically. I’m grateful that he is getting an appointment in Santa Barbara with a psychiatrist for an evaluation for medication. I can work with him on the symptoms. The medication should support stabilization so he and I can do that work. I am glad he’s coming again on Friday. I wanted you to know confidentially since this is something that may work better if Aiden doesn’t know that I have mentioned this to you. Just keep a little extra eye on him because he has suicidal thoughts which he confesses to but downplays. He says he has never come up with A plan. Just stay unnoticeably close and supportive to him. Also get him to that psychiatrist quickly! My best to you Bert, Caroline

Hi Elizabeth, this is Caroline Berlin just checking in with you to be sure that Aidan has an appointment with a psychiatrist set up. I gave him the number of another psychiatrist, Dr. Hatch in Santa Paula, thinking he may be able to see him sooner just to tide him over until he can see the psychiatrist that you would like for him to see in Santa Barbara. Another option would be just the primary care physician to give him something that ball parks his needs at this time. I so appreciate being able to work with Aidan; he is such a fine person. I am concerned however about his well-being since he is needing communication almost every other day now via text. He is sincere in that need and I feel it is going to be difficult for him to progress well without medication right now. When he gets prescribed something he can always just take half as long as he takes the same amount daily at the same time daily on a regular basis. Let me know if you have any questions Elizabeth.
